SEO SERVICES PROVIDER

Do You Really Need Professional SEO Help?

When it comes to determining if you really need a professional SEO Services provider, ask yourself these questions. If you do, the next step is to select one by asking the right questions. Here’s how!

Most business website owners first ask themselves whether or not they should hire a professional SEO services provider based upon the fact that their site is just not well ranked on major search engines such as Google. They have quickly discovered that a poor ranking makes their site difficult if not impossible to find among the many thousands or even millions of competitors and that traffic just doesn’t happen when you are invisible.

The same small business owners may have no clue how to improve their rankings but they do know that there are people out there that do. The problem becomes “can I do this job myself” and if not, “how do I know who is capable, trustworthy and affordable?”

First, Determine if you Actually Need Professional Help

Most owners of small online businesses are busy day and night attending to managing their business operations. To many of these people, search engine optimization is a mystery that requires knowledge far beyond their technical experience. If this describes you, there are a few questions you should ask yourself to find out if you  should begin searching for an SEO services provider. These include:

  1. Questions: Do the majority of my customers come from searches on sites such as Google, Yahoo, AOL and others? Are people searching for the product(s) or service(s) that I offer? If so, are enough new potential customers going to the search engine directories to find what they need? What words/phrases (keywords) do they search with?
  1. Questions: Are my competitor’s websites coming up when I  search with the terms that best describe what my site offers?
  1. Would a meaningful increase in targeted traffic to my business website result in enough new business to justify the cost of a professional SEO services provider?
  1. Answers: You can find out whether you could reasonably expect a significant increase in traffic by plugging your search terms (keywords) into WordTracker or Google Analytics FREE analyzers and looking at just how many searches have been recorded under each keyword or key phrase. This will tell you if people are actually searching for what you’re offering.
  1. Answers: If the business websites you compete with come up, it’s a pretty good indication that SEO has paid off for them. However, that’s not the entire story, there are other factors that you might have to do to get similar results.
  1. Answers: This is the BIG question. If you are already having a satisfactory conversion rate on your site, it’s pretty obvious that if you doubled the traffic, the conversion rate would rise as well. So, yes! However, if you now have an unacceptable conversion rate, odds are more traffic won’t help. In this case, deal with improving your conversion rate and that’s something a professional SEO/SEM provider can help you do.

If SEO makes sense, How Do You Select the Right Provider?

Yes, there are lots of second-rate SEO companies out there, but there are also many that are worth every penny they cost. It’s probably best that you narrow your search down to three or four providers at the most. And the best way to start is to ask people whose opinion you value who they used and who they would recommend.

If you don’t know anybody to ask, go to the Internet and select a few top rated firms from a popular category and ask them who they used. This doesn’t have to be in your field, but it should be in a popular field such as real estate, retailing or even technology. Almost anyone who is happy with the results they got vs. what they paid out, will be more than happy to pass along a solid recommendation.

As for pricing, you’ll have to work that out with an SEO service provider yourself because only you know what your company can afford and/or what you’re willing to lay out to get where you need to be.

Why are Optimized Articles Important SEO Tools?

If you look over the immense collection of articles and blog copy on the web, you will discover that a great many of them are badly written, stuffed to the gills with keywords and obviously prepared for the sole purpose of boosting the rankings of a particular website. That’s because in earlier days, many people believed that having overly-high keyword densities was the fast route to high search engine rankings. Unfortunately, some still do. In reality, a keyword density of between 2% and 6% is more than adequate. Those who still think that keyword stuffing pays, are flat out wrong!

Properly Optimized Articles

There are, in reality, three important factors to consider when writing a properly optimized article for use on websites, blogs or for publication on eZINES. These are, in priority order:

  1. They must have relevant, informative copy that is compelling to read.
  2. They should be prepared to optimize link popularity.
  3. They should have the proper keywords and a reasonable keyword density for search engines.

The worst thing about the overuse of keywords in both articles and web pages is that it becomes difficult if not impossible to meet standards for relevance and link popularity. In other words, they are anything but easy-to-read and understand when keyword stuffing is applied.

Articles are Important SEO Tools

Sure, articles should be effective for the major search engines, but most of all, they have to be relevant for the people who read them.

Moreover, if they don’t read well and aren’t really informative, it will be most difficult to lure others in your market ‘niche’ to link to you. Remember that rankings notwithstanding, if the visitors to your website don’t see obvious value in what you say, they can log out and go to your competitor’s websites with a simple mouse click. In this case, even the highest search engine directory ranking becomes useless for delivering visitors who you can convert to customers for your product(s) or service(s).

Appeal to Search Engines without Sacrificing Relevance

The answer to earning a high ranking and delivering lots of targeted traffic comes down to using a balanced approach when preparing articles within the SEO/SEM process. This simply means that you must never:

  1. Repeat the same words and phrases too often in your copywriting
  2. Sacrifice the relevance that makes your articles compelling and informative to readers
  3. Absolutely never stuff keywords to the point where your text’s readability goes to pot.

So just remember to write articles for the ultimate reader first and make very sure that they are easy to read and discuss things that are directly related to the market nice you are in.

If Need Be, Hire a Professional

Granted, not everybody on the Internet is a wordsmith. In fact many people—even those who speak well—just can’t write well. If you fall into this category, worry not. Professional providers of SEO services can do all the important things necessary to make your website—and your articles—relevant, compelling and optimized. There is also a sizeable cadre of freelance copywriters on the web who can write highly relevant and optimized articles for you at extremely nominal prices.

THE PERFECT SEO FRIENDLY WEBSITE

There are many stories going around the internet about what you need to have for the perfect SEO friendly website. Some people say that you do not need to do anything, and that you just need to get your website built. Some say that you just need to submit your website to search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask, Live and others. Some seem to think that having a website that is one hundred percent JAVA or Flash, or 3D will do the trick. This is not the case, and the absolute truth is that you need to have SEO friendly website text, because 3D Flash and Java really does nothing for your SEO.

If you have a website that you do not want to market on the internet, let’s say that you only give out your website address to clients on your business card, then this is fine, but if you are looking to target people on the internet, and if you are looking to generate more traffic through SEO (search engine marketing), then you will need to have a properly built SEO friendly website and more importantly, a properly maintained website. It all comes down to building your website so that it is search engine friendly, and then doing your link building. This is where you need to start. First you will find a company that believes in SEO friendly websites, who will make you a text based, easy to navigate and view website. This does not need to be boring and 1 dimensional, however.

We are not saying that you mustn’t have any Flash or Java, these things are good, but it is recommended that you keep them to a minimum. Also remember that links are not to be picture or flash buttons. They should rather be text, or the spider bots will not find their way around your site easily and you will get a poor ranking. The next thing you need for your SEO friendly website is actual content. This means hiring a copywriter to produce meaningful content that relates to your business and actually promotes your services or products. These should also have keywords placed strategically throughout the text. This can be done be a professional copywriter who works primarily over the internet for SEO purposes. The last things you need for an SEO friendly website is outbound and inbound links as well as internal linking between your own web pages.

CHOOSING A DOMAIN NAME IS IMPORTANT TO SEO

Filed under: Today Top News — Tags: , , — Sam Errama @ 10:45 am

Your domain name is important in the SEO process. If possible, it should reflect the subject matter on your website. Read this and choose carefully.

Once you have a domain name checker before you, it’s time to begin the trial and error process of finding a suitable and available name for your website. Get a hot cup of coffee and settle down to the task. This might take some time.
Plainly stated, your domain name should describe your website or business. The reason is easy to understand. People search the web for information by using certain terms or keywords. If you are just starting to build a website, it will be best to name the business or website after the domain name you’ve secured. For example, if you are offering to prepare resumes at low cost, and you secure the domain name lowcostresumes.com, that should be your website name too. After all, you can’t expect that people will memorize a totally unrelated URL. There is, however, another issue: Is low cost resumes the best keyword phrase you can select? Is that the term the majority of people will search under? Probably not! And there are methods and tools available to help you select the search term (keyword) with the greatest potential for high traffic.

Many people seem to believe that a generic domain name is best, like refrigerators.com. However, you will quickly discover that such names are almost always taken and if you want to buy one, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg. We personally believe that a domain name that is also your brand name is the best bet because most people search that way. For example, would you search under refrigerators or something more related to what you are looking for like General Electric refrigerators or portable refrigerators?

Whether a domain name should be long or short is also debated. In reality, your domain name can be up to 67 characters long. This gives you a chance to be specific and use a name that more closely matches your target market. Low cost resumes uses 14 characters compared to 7 for resumes, but it specifies people who don’t want to pay a lot of money to have their new resume written, and if this is your targeted group, it makes good sense. In this example, the longer one is more targeted. It is also becoming almost impossible to get a short generic domain name these days.

Hyphenated domain names have good points and bad points. The bad points are that it’s awfully easy to forget to type in the hyphens which might end up taking visitors to your competition. They are also a pain to type when you’re in a hurry. The advantage might be that the non-hyphenated name is not available. With hyphenation, you can at least end up with the name you really want. For example if lowcostresumes.com was taken, this webmaster could have gotten low-cost-resumes.com.

You will also find that many domain registrars offer you suggestions that are built around the name that’s taken. Many of these have ‘The’ or ‘My’ or ‘Your’ in the name. For example, lowcostresumes, if taken, could have been offered as ‘mylow costresumes’ or ‘yourlowcostresumes’. Or, ‘refrigerator.com’ could have been ‘my refrigerator.com’ or ‘refrigerators.com’ with the plural form added. Beware of one danger when selecting a plural form of a domain name: if visitors omit the plural, they may be going straight to your competitor’s website.

What about names that don’t have a .com because they are all taken. You can probably get .biz, .org, .net or some other suffix. If you feel strongly that the primary name is a critical identifier, one of these might be an acceptable option to the more familiar .com suffix. If you end up with a non-.com name, don’t forget to use the full URL in any promotions you do. Use the complete name!

One thing you don’t want to do is start out with one domain name and then change it later on. Any momentum you will have earned will be lost and you’ll be starting out from scratch.

So take the time to thoroughly search available domain names and keep all the options at your disposal firmly in mind. If possible, search on a site that is big and well established. A site that offers many suggestions when the name you wanted is taken, even if you plan to host your site elsewhere. GoDaddy.com is just such a site!

Remember that most of this applies to people who have not yet begun their new website. But your domain name can have a very-positive influence on search engine optimization, so consider this carefully before you begin.

ABOUT KEYWORDS & KEYWORD PHRASES—TERMS PEOPLE SEARCH BY

Keywords and keyword phrases are actually the search terms that people use when looking for anything on the Internet. And as already briefly touched upon, they are extremely important in the website optimization process. The importance of selecting the right keywords and using them at the right density on your website pages cannot be overemphasized.

All search engines rank websites in their directories based upon keywords. They don’t necessarily use the same ranking processes from a technology point of view but keywords still provide the basis.

From a general perspective, selecting the correct keywords for your website requires a bit of detective work. It comes down to figuring out what search terms people will use when searching the major engine directories for products or services like yours.

The most used search terms or keywords will obviously bring you the greatest number of visitors provided that you apply them properly. It is also quite probable that you will face more competition that you must ‘beat out’ for top directory rankings.

Keyword Density

Keyword density, or how often your keywords should appear on a given website page, is often a controversial issue. There are still people who place far more importance on density than is necessary. In fact, when keyword density gets so high that it cripples relevance and readability, it will result in a lower ranking on the directories and especially on Google.

The actual definition of keyword density is the ratio of the word being searched for vs. the total number of words on a given web page. In other words, the more a given keyword or group of keywords appear on a page, the higher the keyword density.

Today, all search engines consider keyword density as part of their ranking algorithm. However, they also consider relevance of your text to be important since that is what attracts and retains visitors. Here are some SEO tips regarding keyword density:

  • Consult WordTracker’s large database of keywords and keyword phrases. Be certain your website’s keywords include similar, relevant search terms. This will go far to making you more visible on search engines as people search for products or services that your site offers.
  • Be certain that the keywords you select and include in your site are relevant to your website topics. Some webmasters try to include every keyword or phrase they can and this can result in you being banned for “spamming”.
  • Utilize the most critical keywords and phrases in their full form. Avoid referring to them as ‘it’ or ‘that’, words that won’t mean a thing to the search robots.
  • Don’t ‘overuse’ keywords or resort to very short text to increase keyword density. Search engines today are a lot smarter than they used to be and all the old ‘tricks’ people used to get high ranking no longer work. Always remember that now, relevance of what you say on your pages really matters to both the search engines and your visitors.
  • Shoot for a keyword density of between 2% and 5%. This is more than adequate when the keywords and key phrases are combined with truly relevant text.

Keyword Tools

Fortunately, there is a wide variety of different keyword tools available to help you determine keywords for your website, research your competition and more. These are available from Google and other sources as well. By now, you should understand that the keywords you choose and use throughout your web pages are critically important to your SEO success. You must know if certain search terms (keywords) and search phrases (keyword phrases) are actually the ones that the visitors you want at your website will use. These tools will help you determine if a keyword or phrase is actually worth using.
